Fenland Junior League Final

Fenland Junior League Whittlesey links weekend

Tough opposition. Held our position in 4th place for most of the evening, but just slipped into 5th at the end, with few points between 3rd, 4th and 5th. Some excellent swims and plenty of top 3 places. Some swimmers had a lot of races due to regular team members being in Holland, so thanks to them for keeping going. All swimmers did us proud as always. Many thanks to Lindsay and Shaun for their help on poolside. If setting off the pools emergency alarm and getting on the wrong coach home are key skills for a Team Manager, I think we did a good job! Well done everyone. Rachele Clark.

Dolphins Week (June 29th – July 5th)

Details have now been finalised for Dolphins week. For those who have not attended this before:
• No normal training will occur during the week of Monday 29th June – Sunday 5th July.
• Each swimmer can attend as many events as they like no matter how often they normally swim eg. those that swim once a week can attend every event in that week
• Please speak to Terry or a member of the committee if you are unsure
• Children must be accompanied to Curve Motion and the BBQ
• This week is a reward for all the hard work and training that our swimmers complete every week of the year

Events will be as follows:
Monday 29th June – Water Polo
One session will take place between 7 – 8 pm and the second between 8 – 9 pm. Please speak to Terry who will tell you which session to attend.
Tuesday 30th June – Skating and soft play at Curve Motion (Bury St Edmunds) 7-9pm
This is available for all swimmers, parents and siblings. Skating and soft play would normally cost £11.95 but we will only be charging £5 per person (payable at the door) that wishes to skate/soft play – this will also include the cost of skate hire if required. Yes, parents are able to skate too! Please attend even if you did not reply to the original email. All children must be accompanied by a parent who will be required to stay with their children. Spectators will be charged £1 to come in. The snack bar will be open for drinks and snacks. Please pay Anna Pettit or Nusrat Khan on the door.
Wednesday 1st July – Fun races and rounders
There will be fun races in the pool between 7 – 8 pm and then rounders on the field behind the sports centre.
Thursday 2nd July – Inflatables, flumes and wave pool
The pool will be open with the inflatables, flumes and wave pool between 7 – 9 pm.
Friday 3rd July – BBQ and bouncy castle at Barnham Village Hall
This annual event is very successful and will start at 6.30 pm. Burgers and sausages will be on sale along with a bar and soft drinks. We are also hoping to have an ice-cream van. All children must be accompanied by an adult. We are hoping to hold a raffle on the night and would be grateful for any prizes that could be donated – please bring along to the BBQ.
Sunday 5th July – Aqua Aerobics with Becs
This was such a success last year we have decided to repeat it. Come along at 9 am for an hours session. Adults can join in too!

Well done everyone!

East Regionals at Luton – May

“Grace McGill and Macaulay Harvey and I competed in East Regionals in Luton over the bank holiday weekend.
It was the first time Macaulay and I had qualified and I think it’s safe to say we were both nervous. Grace did very well with only just missing out a place for her back stroke final. I made it into the final for 50m & 100m breaststroke and managed 8th & 7th place. Overall it was a great experience and very exciting.
Well done Grace and Macaulay who did us Dolphins proud and good luck for Alfie who will be competing in the Regionals at the end of May.”
Senior Captain, Amie

Karen Darton: “Well done to all of you. You did yourselves and the club very proud. Great achievement.”

Steve King: “Fantastic achievement just reaching the Regionals, let alone swimming in a final. You should all feel very proud of yourselves!! Well done Amie, Grace & Macaulay.”

April 2015

2nd heat of mini galea april 15b

Steve King: “18 April 2015 saw Thetford Dolphins host the 2nd round of the internal mini galas.

There was a fantastic turn out of 83 swimmers resulted in 5 teams of 14 & 1 team of 13. We were extremely pleased to see so many new swimmers turn up and compete for the first time (Notwithstanding our regular swimmers). The Red Arrows sent out a challenge to the other teams to out cheer them & I’m pleased to say you have given Terry something to think about! The support you gave your fellow swimmers was AMAZING!

The swimming did not disappoint either. A huge amount of Personal Best times look to have been achieved for both 50m Breast Stroke and 50m Freestyle. The canon relay at the end resulted in all 83 swimmers giving their all & crowned a wonderful evening of personal achievements, wonderful support and team building.

A massive thank you to all the parents for supporting their swimmers, to those who officiated, to those who team managed, to the swim shop & of course to our head coach Terry.

Last word goes to our attempts to get the Mexican Wave going. It was a valiant effort & we will continue to try and get the whole crowd waving next time. So I sign off with a final word of congratulations to all our amazing swimmers & leave by saying “if you see a Mexican Wave, wave back”.

Well done guys!”

Karen Darton: “Excellent mini gala tonight. There were a few first time swimmers who swam brilliantly.”
